YouTube Releases Official App for Apple Vision Pro
YouTube has released a dedicated application for the Apple Vision Pro, nearly two years after the mixed-reality headset launched. Since the device became available, users accessed the YouTube platform through the Safari browser, which did not support features such as offline viewing and optimised playback. Some third-party alternatives appeared but were later removed for breaching YouTube’s terms of service.
The native app lets users watch standard videos and YouTube Shorts on a large virtual display in the headset. A Spatial section features immersive formats, including 3D, VR180, and 360-degree content. On Vision Pro models with Apple’s M5 processor, the app supports video playback up to 8K resolution. Gesture controls let users adjust screen size, navigate content, and manage playback without physical devices.
Several major streaming services, including Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, Paramount, and Peacock, released native VisionOS applications when the headset debuted. YouTube joined later as early enthusiasm around Vision Pro declined. Reports show shipments slowed, with about 45,000 units delivered in the fourth quarter of 2025, and manufacturers reduced production levels due to lower demand.
The YouTube application is now available through the VisionOS App Store and works with Vision Pro devices powered by both M2 and M5 chips. Its addition brings one of the largest online video platforms directly into the headset’s software environment, expanding the range of supported media services.
Apple introduced an updated Vision Pro last year, marking the device’s first hardware revision. The new model runs VisionOS 26 and uses the M5 processor for higher performance and responsiveness, supporting advanced spatial apps and immersive events.
The revised headset also features a dual-knit band to improve comfort during extended use. Pricing for the Vision Pro with the M5 processor begins at US$3,499. The device is available with 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options.
